What's Your Favourite Brand of Sugarpaste? - the Results Show

Thank you to everyone who took part in this fun little survey

We read through every single comment (honestly, hundreds of them) and have been fascinated with everyone's comments, experiences and suggestions

You guys are the experts - not us - you know exactly what you expect from your sugarpaste so everything you tell us (good and bad) is taken on board and really helps us focus on where we can help you better

The first thing you all probably noticed is something we already knew . . . the fact that everyone has their own favourite brand.  We all have different ways of working, different techniques and experience, so very often our favourite brand is simply the one we're most familiar with

With this in mind, Cake Stuff are more than happy to continue stocking as many of the top brands as possible and we'll continue to speak with manufacturers worldwide to trial new brands that our customers may not have tried yet

Here's a little summary of what you said, along with a little more information to help answer some of the points raised, and (best of all) a chance to try a FREE* sample of Couture for yourself . . .

results summary

  • not every brand was included in our Price Comparison – purely because there are some brands we don’t stock.  Many own brands / re-brands (like Squires, Bako, PME, Almond Art, LVCC, KayBee, Sattina, Doric etc etc etc ) simply didn’t make it on to the shortlist because brands like this are often the same product sold under different brand names
  • geography plays a part too – it’s simply not viable to stock some brands (like Pettinice, Icewise, Fondarific etc) here in the UK because of complicated distributorship arrangements and high shipping costs, although we're constantly working on these
  • Massa Ticino offers great quality but at a price - our profit margin is tiny but paying over £6 a kilo is still steep - on the plus side, it can be rolled very thinly and many of our regular customers tell us this really makes it no more expensive than some other brands
  • confusion still remains surrounding “Regalice” . . . the Dr Oetker Regalice found in supermarkets is not Renshaw Regalice, so when we refer to "Regalice" we really mean the original Renshaw - now re-named as “Renshaw Professional Ready To Roll Icing”
  • there were lots (lots!) of great comments about Couture Sugarpaste so we wanted to confirm that Couture is genuinely exclusive to Cake Stuff – some of our competitors claim it's just an existing product re-branded . . . it's not!
  • there are a few companies using similar phraseology and making similar claims about their sugarpaste - no matter what anyone else claims or how similar the product sounds, we can promise you it’s not Couture
  • you cannot order Couture direct from the manufacturer or any national wholesaler
  • Couture is made to our own unique specification after working with many of our trade customers over a period of months, continually tweaking the recipe to create something that everyone now loves
