• Mona Lisa is a multi-purpose sugarpaste made by Massa Ticino
• we're always honest with our customers so we have to say it's not as good as Massa Ticino branded sugarpaste
• the clue is in the name . . . this is Massa's multi-purpose everyday sugarpaste icing
• softer than original Massa - easy to use straight from the pack
• work with it for longer before drying - giving you time to sort out any little imperfections
• Mona Lisa is still good but doesn't give you quite the level of flawless finish you get with Massa
• Carma was founded in Switzerland in 1931 by Carl Maentler – a Swiss guy with a sweet tooth! Carma first developed their Massa Ticino sugarpaste in 1963 and it quickly earned a reputation for being one of the world’s best sugar pastes
• but quality is never cheap and Massa is just about the most expensive sugarpaste on the market so, 50 years later, Carma have launched Mona Lisa as a less expensive everyday icing
• slightly different recipe (eg Xanthan Gum instead of Gum Tragacanth) allows them to offer a lower price
• great for covering cakes due to high elasticity - Mona Lisa is unlikely to tear or crack
• smooths to a nice finish, with no dreaded elephant skin
• can be used for general modelling and with moulds - add some tylo powder as required

• colours follow standard Pantone system so can be mixed for an infinite range of shades - over 100 colours can be created from mixing just 2-3 Mona Lisa colours
• ingredients: sugar, glucose syrup, vegetable fat (sunflower), emulsifier: mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, gelling agent: xanthan gum E415, humectant: glycerol E422, modified starch, colour: E171, preservative: sorbic acid E200, acidity regulator: citric acid E330, natural flavour: vanillin, caramelised sugar syrup
• suitable for vegetarians and vegans - no animal-derived ingredients
• certified Kosher and Halal
• allergy advice: may contain traces of nuts and soya
• AZO free - gluten free - cholesterol free - no artificial colours (ie no E numbers*)
• additional nutritional information printed on pack
• BBE dates for Massa are a little shorter than most other brands due to all natural ingredients but still normally at least 3-4 months
• * it is worth noting that although Carma do not use artificial colourings, other natural ingredients do have E numbers (eg Gum Tragacanth is E413) so we want to avoid any confusion that their 'no E number' marketing may cause by being clear about this
