• probably the most unlikely sounding item on the Cake Stuff website but those 'in the know' swear it's one of the best little tools you can have when working with sugarpaste icing . . .
• air bubbles in sugarpaste are sometimes almost impossible to avoid - temperature and humidity can cause air pockets to develop no matter how carefully you prepare it
• kneading and stretching the sugar paste itself can also cause little bubbles to develop, so instead of removing the and re-covering the cake (which can result in the icing being damaged) simply 'pop' the bubble
• it's an old trick traditionally done with a cocktail stick, pin or craft knife - the problem is that all 3 can leave marks in the sugarpaste
• acupuncture needles are so fine that they pierce the bubble and release the trapped air with only a tiny entry hole that is easily polished out - often it's virtually invisible
• the technique works great for sugarpaste, flower / modelling / gum paste etc
• supplied in sterile packs to ensure total hygiene
• actual needle approx 40mm long 0.25mm diameter (handle is thicker for easier grip)
• approx 7.5cm / 75m / 3" long overall
