As a purely on-line company, a big part of what we do is (obviously) delivering orders to our customers.  We want to make this process as simple, fast and reliable as possible so that the whole delivery experience for our customers is pleasant and hassle-free

For the past few years we’ve been using APC Overnight and the service has always been really good, but times move on and it’s time for a change

We want Cake Stuff customers to enjoy the very best delivery experience possible so we’ve worked with DPD to put together a package which we feel is unbeatable.  We're therefore delighted to confirm that we're now using DPD to deliver most of our heavier orders to customers in all parts of the UK, the Republic of Ireland and many other European countries

As soon as your order has been despatched from the Cake Stuff warehouse, we’ll automatically send you an email to let you know

We’ll ask you to watch for an email and text message from DPD later the same day, as these will contain important tracking and delivery information about your order

The idea is that if you can't pick up emails, you'll still get the text message and vice versa

DPD2This is called Predict – DPD’s innovative system which ensures more successful first-time deliveries than any other courier company by letting customers know in advance when to expect their orders and by offering you lots of convenient delivery options

After all, our aim is to make you happy so we want your order delivered quickly and safely, and as conveniently for you as possible

in-flight options to manage your delivery

The DPD email / text both offer In-Flight options to help you manage delivery. These include...

•    change the delivery date to a day that suits you better
•    deliver to a safe place - you can specify
•    deliver to a neighbour – see more below*
•    upgrade to a Saturday or even a Sunday delivery – see more below**
•    have your order delivered to the nearest DPD Pickup Shop - see more below***

* if you ask DPD to deliver to a neighbour, the driver will still leave a calling card at your address and will also send you an email or SMS confirming which neighbour they delivered to

** you can take advantage of a really handy Saturday (or even Sunday) delivery by upgrading and paying the £5 extra charge to DPD direct.  This is easily done via the email / text links and you can pay using card or PayPal.  Please note this particular upgrade is not available for orders shipped from us on a Friday



DPD 15 minutesOn the day of delivery you’ll receive another email / text with a one hour delivery timeslot but if you're not going to be in, don’t panic, you’ll be offered the In-Flight options again so that you can further manage your delivery

You can track your order using Follow My Parcel – a great feature which shows where the DPD driver is on his delivery route and lets you know when he’s just 15 minutes away!

You can follow his progress on the map and can even change delivery instructions right down to only 15 minutes before your order is delivered

Please note that some services (eg the 1 hour timeslot) are only available to UK mainland customers.  This is purely because there are some factors for customers with offshore addresses (eg  ferry times) which mean DPD can't predict an accurate timeslot in advance of attempting the actual delivery

re-direct your order to a local Pickup Shop


*** DPD’s national network of over 2,500 Pickup Shops allows you to have your order delivered to a shop for you to collect – if this is more convenient for you

DPD Pickup93% of the population are within 10 minutes’ drive of a Pickup Shop, including Numark Pharmacies and Halfords stores - and there's over 400 Pickup Shops in London alone, including Doddle sites at key railway stations

While we realise this particular service won’t help absolutely everyone as it's aimed more for customers in major towns and cities, it’s another option to help make deliveries as convenient as possible

We understand that the unexpected sometimes happens and can spoil plans, but don't worry - if you miss the delivery for any reason, DPD will send you an email / text to let you know right away, so that you can re-arrange delivery before you get home

They’ll leave a “sorry, we missed you” card and they’ll even include a photo of where the card was left in the email / text.  Even at this stage you can still re-arrange delivery for another day, upgrade to a Saturday or Sunday delivery, ask them to deliver to a neighbour or to your choice of Pickup Shop

here's what you need to do . . .

As you can see, there are some excellent benefits, so to ensure you can enjoy these we need to ask you to do 3 little things as soon as you can . . .


1.    please log in to your Cake Stuff account and check that the email address you’ve supplied is correct and up-to-date so that you'll receive the DPD emails


2.    please also check that the phone number you’ve supplied is up-to-date and, if at all possible, is a mobile number so that you'll receive the DPD texts


3.    if you normally pay by PayPal, please also log in to your PayPal account and check that there are no old addresses lurking around that you don't want used and that all the contact details are correct and up-to-date

 

That's it . . . these 3 little checks mean you can look forward to the most convenient, fast and flexible delivery experience

The whole system is highly automated and relies totally on the information you’ve provided being correct

Any errors in your delivery address (or an old address being supplied by PayPal) will go unnoticed until DPD attempt to deliver your order and, at that point, we really don’t want you to find out there's a problem.  Without an up-to-date email address and a mobile number you won’t receive the email or texts messages with all the In-Flight options

The Cake Stuff Customer Service team have always helped customers track their parcels or help re-arrange deliveries but, in order to give you as much control as possible over delivery of your order, all communication now has to be directly between the customer and DPD.  Our Customer Service team will not be able to change delivery instructions, track orders or re-arrange deliveries on your behalf

Please don’t misunderstand – regular customers already know that we’re more than happy to help in any way we can and the level of friendly service Cake Stuff are famous for will continue as normal so please don't hesitate to contact us if you experience any problems

We obviously want to be able to help if something has gone wrong but please understand that because (for example) you can now change your delivery instructions as close as only 15 minutes before delivery, the only way for this to work is for communication to be between you and DPD direct

and it won't cost you a penny more . . .

We’re delighted to confirm that this enhanced delivery experience won’t cost a penny more for at least 99% of Cake Stuff customers

Cake Stuff are covering all the costs involved in offering this enhanced service - yes, each delivery is more expensive for us simply because of the amazing service and options included - but we'll be keeping delivery charges as they were before, with FREE delivery on orders of £75 or more and with our amazing Express Delivery option available when you need something really urgently 

  • FREE delivery on UK mainland orders of £75 or more
  • our standard delivery charge now covers orders weighing up to 30kg (up from 20kg)
  • customers in remote parts of the UK mainland (eg the Scottish highlands) are not charged any extra but please allow an extra day for deliveries and please understand why DPD may not be able to offer 1 hour delivery time-slots in remote areas
  • customers in Northern Ireland and on UK islands (including the Channel Islands) will enjoy lower delivery charges with half price delivery on orders over £100
  • customers on the Isle of Wight will now enjoy 'mainland' lower delivery rates
  • customers in the Republic of Ireland and many other European countries will also enjoy lower delivery charges

One change to note is the size and number of boxes per delivery . . . regular Cake Stuff customers will be used to receiving several smaller boxes per delivery but to help ensure everything is delivered as smoothly as possible, DPD have asked us to use fewer boxes - which will often mean larger boxes.  Heavier boxes may be more awkward for some customers to handle, so don't hesitate to ask the delivery driver to place them somewhere convenient

We will, of course, continue to subsidise deliveries to all non-mainland and remote areas as much as possible, and to use Royal Mail to deliver orders which are small and light enough, where this offers our customers a cheaper delivery option

and it doesn't stop here . . .

 

As if all this wasn't enough, we have even more new ideas, improvements and options up our sleeves which we can't wait to tell you more about

Fancy a Saturday delivery option? . . . what about a Sunday?

Well now you can - using DPD's In-Flight options you can now re-arrange delivery of your order for a Saturday or Sunday and you simply pay the small premium for this to DPD direct.  Please note this upgrade is not available on orders despatched on a Friday

There are no secrets - we're always open and honest with our customers, so we want to explain what we hope to gain from this change.  After a few weeks of trialling this new service, we hope our customers will very quickly get used to the texts and emails - the options and convenience - the speed and reliability.  As that happens, customers will find it faster and easier to manage their own deliveries using DPD's In-Flight options rather than phone us.  This, in turn, will free up a lot of time for our Customer Service team so that they can help more customers by answering more phone calls and replying to more emails even faster

The combination of this better delivery experience, better customer service, many more new products and even more competitive prices will simply ensure Cake Stuff is the only supplier our customers would trust with their orders

We'll keep working to achieve that goal - that's our promise!
