Icing colouring pens are a fast and easy way to write messages on icing or to add detail.
Icing colour pens are basically like normal felt or fibre tipped pens but contain a special insert filled with liquid icing colouring or the very latest "edible liquid ink". Totally edible and totally safe. Don't confuse with icing pens made by Supercook and others, which were really little tubes of ready made icing.
Cake Stuff have always stocked Sugarflair icing colour pens and have sold (literally) tens of thousands of them, but we also stock Rainbow Dust colouring pens - these double-tipped pens use the very latest edible liquid ink technology to offer both a broader brush tip for general colouring and an extra-fine tip for very detailed work. No longer seen as a cake decorating "cheat", icing pens are now a serious piece of kit.
"Edible Ink Technology" is a real innovation in cake decorating equipment as the edible ink tends not to crystalize or dry out as easily as traditional icing colouring pens. These new pens also offer fantastic opportunities for serious cake decorators - a great way to add fine detail to sugar flowers and figures... from tiny spots of pollen to eyelashes, the potential is amazing!
There are at least 16 shades of Sugarflair pens and 23 shades of Rainbow Dust icing pens.
For best results, use icing color pens on dry, smooth icing such as sugarpaste or royal icing. Over time, sugar crystals will form inside the pen making the nib appear dry. If this happens squeeze a few drops of Rejuvenator Spirit / Fluid into a saucer and lay the pen nib in the liquid for a few minutes. This will dissolve any sugar crystals and refresh the insert to extend the life of your pen.
Fast and easy to use for busy mums or anyone who just doesn't feel too confident about piping lettering. Not every cake needs to be of an award-winning standard. . . it's all about having fun decorating the cake and having fun eating it. Let's be honest, most of decorate cakes for our children and friends, so anything which can save a bit of time is well worth considering.
Sugarflair colouring pens are fat free, nut free, gluten free, GM free, are certified Kosher and are suitable for vegetarians. Rainbow Dust colouring pens are also suitable for vegetarians, certified Kosher, certified Halal and also GMO free.
