SOFT BEIGE / SKIN TONE / FLESH Mexican Sugar Modelling Paste (MMP) 200g

  • good quality modelling gum paste from Squires Kitchen - known for years as Mexican Paste but they found many new customers were unfamiliar with that terminology, so now called Sugar Modelling Paste
  • officially it's the same product as before but initial reports suggest it may be slightly softer to work with than the old MMP
  • an excellent modelling gumpaste for modelling, figures and basic sugar flowers
  • for a finer paste better suited to sugar flowers we recommend Sugar Florist Paste SFP
  • foil pack - we've shown both the new style and original packs as either may be supplied
  • BBE date 2-3 months minimum - normally much longer
  • BULK TRADE PRICES - we no longer offer Price Breaks for buying more than 1 pack at a time, but we've reduced the price for buying just 1 and we do offer additional discounts for busier cake makers - find out more about becoming a Cake Stuff Trade Customer

I prefer Saracino

I want to review Squires Kitchen sugar modelling paste which I have been using for a while now. It is not bad but a good bit softer than their flower paste and takes a while to dry. I recently tried Saracino and have to say I much preferred it for my purposes

colour doesnt last

i make figures to go on my childrens birthday cakes, normally using sfp, but decided to try this. I found it too soft to work with and took too long to dry. But also Ive noticed the colour fades - I made my daughter a figure for her 18th birthday cake that she still has on her winowsill and still looks exactly the same now as it did 3 years ago, I made another figure for her 21st using modelling paste and put it in a box to keep. But when I looked at it 3 months later it had basically all turned beige- from having yellow/blonde hair, skintone face, arms and legs and coloured clothes! So you couldnt use the modelling paste to make figures in advance or to display.  Cake Stuff response: thanks for your review Deedee, we found your comments comparing the Sugar Modelling Paste to SFP very interesting - we would agree that the Modelling Paste is softer, but we've not come across the colour fading before so that's something we're going to try to replicate in our Clean Room. We'll also pass your experience on to Squire's Kitchen.
