Cake Crack - the innovative mix that adds texture to icing

  • firstly, can we say that we're not fans of the strapline 'for real cake junkies' - we're not prudes but we think that's bordering on bad taste, so we apologise if you're offended by this
  • Cake Crack enables you to create realistic crackled wood and stone effects on sugarpaste icing and gum / modelling paste without having to use moulds or texture mats
  • Cake Crack is fast and easy to use, and the finished piece remains edible
  • Cake Crack is ideal for all sorts of novelty cakes where you're trying to achieve realistic textures on wood, buildings, fences, stone, metal etc
  • Cake Crack is one of those products where you'll find more and more ways to use it as time passes
  • watch the Youtube video for tips and ideas
  • use on cakes, cupcakes, cookies, the sides of cake tiers, cake boards etc
  • cover your cake board with sugarpaste and use Cake Crack to add detail your customers will love
  • supplied as a powder in a resealable plastic pot with instructions and additional nutritional information on the label - it's so easy to use . . .
  • 1. mix your desired amount of Cake Crack powder with water or Rejuvenator Fluid to create a thick, brushable paste
    2. brush a thin layer of vegetable fat (eg Trex, Crisco etc) on to the area of sugarpaste you plan to coat with Cake Crack
    3. using a food approved brush, brush on your Cake Crack in one direction ONLY
    4. for larger, deeper cracks only brush once - for smaller cracks brush a few times
    5. leave to air dry and your sugarpaste will form realistic cracks
  • Cake Crack can be coloured using paste / gel icing colouring (once you've mixed it into a paste)
  • add detail with edible lustre dusts or metallic and edible paints
  • this small 50g pot contains enough Cake Crack to cover at least two tall 8 inch round cakes
  • ingredients:  sugar, E341, E551, E1403, E171, E132, E553b
  • pot is approx 7cm / 2½" tall x 7cm / 2½" diameter
  • BBE date immaterial - labels always have short dates but product lasts for months (if not years) in powder form

mixed feelings

Not sure about this. Seems pretty good but not a lot for your money and I've seen online tutorials which show you how to get the same effect. Happy with results so have to be fair and leave 4 stars
