The multi-coloured sparkles have a semi-translucent base colour so that what may appear, for example, to be a green colour will reveal peach and purple sparkle highlights and the translucent property means the colour of the base material (eg white, ivory or colour sugarpaste) can dramatically affect the final appearance.

Sprinkle on to icing or apply more precisely using a little edible glue or confectioners' glaze. Mix with other colours for an infinite range of shades.
