Ateco (pronounced a-tee-co) is one of the USA's top cake decorating supplies companies, now celebrating over 100 years of innovation and quality. Ateco was founded in 1905 by August Thomsen, offering a selection of cake decorating tools derived from both the traditional tools of his native Germany and his own designs. Based in New York, the company heritage continues today under the leadership of the founder’s great grandsons . . . four generations ensure a tradition of quality and integrity.
As with most companies, many products are now outsourced to manufacturers in the Far East but quality remains excellent; a perfect example being Ateco palette knives . . . made by the same company who makes Wilton palette knives with surgical quality Japanese stainless steel blades, rosewood handles and brass rivets.
Another example has to be their famous 29 piece piping nozzle set and 55 piece piping nozzle set (see pic above) . . . virtually identical to the Wilton versions but at a much better price.
