Cake Stuff is a small, family-run business based in the historic village of Lesmahagow, in Lanarkshire, around 20 miles South of Glasgow in the tropical South West of Scotland. Here, among the palm trees and golden sands, suitably protecting ourselves against the strong sun (yes, we are joking!), we ship hundreds of orders every day to tens-of-thousands of lovely cake making customers all over the world.
There are few things more comforting than the smell of something baking in the oven and the taste of real home baking – it’s nostalgic, it’s homely, it’s fun. We genuinely love what we do – it’s great fun and we hope this always comes across to our customers. We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we take what we do very seriously.
Everyone here at Cake Stuff loves cakes – some of us bake, some of us are cake decorators and some of us just enjoy eating them!
We are a completely on-line business - sorry, you can't pop in for a browse around the warehouse - but you are welcome to order on-line and choose the Click & Collect option at checkout (see more below).
Cake Stuff is a stone’s throw from the M74 motorway (the main road link from Scotland to England) which ensures fast, reliable deliveries throughout the UK and beyond.
Some customers seem surprised that we even have electricity here in Scotland, so please rest assured that we're proud to be part of a modern, vibrant European nation and that deliveries to customers take no longer from Scotland than from anywhere else in the UK - Express Shipping orders placed before 2pm are delivered the next working day.
Cake Stuff is an ethical business and we take our environmental responsibilities seriously . . . we recycle packaging where it is safe and hygienic to do so, we use biodegradable packing "chips" (which can be composted) and air-fill packaging to pack boxes, our new premises have many energy-saving features and we are always working on ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Our next project is to install solar panels to generate our own electricity. We're not perfect - not by a long way - but we're trying!
Cake Stuff was one of the first companies in Lanarkshire to commit to the Living Wage - even for part-time and seasonal staff - to underline just how valuable and important to us the team is here at Cake Stuff.
We're proud to work with Community Involvement, a charitable organisation which finds training and employment for adults with learning difficulties - helping them to find their rightful place actively involved in, benefitting from and contributing to the local community.
We were delighted to be the first business in Scotland to offer a full-time placement to one of their students . . . William. William helps keep our order pickers topped up with boxes, packing chips, bubble wrap, tape etc but, most importantly of all, he keeps us all supplied with cuppas throughout the day! William is a valuable member of the Cake Stuff team and we couldn't make it through a busy day without his help - and those cuppas(!)
Cake Stuff covenant a percentage of our profits every year to charity projects, both at home and overseas. With the help of our customers, we've built life-saving bridges (literally) in Malawi, we support the Salvation Army Street Project and the charity Loaves & Fishes - both working to offer hot food, clothing and support for homeless people in and around Glasgow, we're proud to support Epilepsy Connections (you can support by donating your spare change at checkout) and we've helped support countless coffee mornings and bake sales throughout the country.
With over 25 years' experience in retail (most of this time running a series of busy retail shops) we decided in the Autumn of 2006 to move to industrial units so that we could expand on our on-line sugarcraft and tartan ribbon businesses. The move proved such a success that we quickly had to expand premises to accommodate the ever-growing amount of stock regularly arriving from all over the world. We eventually took over all available 5 industrial warehouse units but even this wasn’t big enough, so in November 2012 we moved to our new home . . . modern, comfortable, close-by, environmentally efficient and (most importantly of all) more than 3 times larger!
The Cake Stuff warehouse is packed full of cake decorating goodies - literally millions of items - row upon row, shelf upon shelf of just about everything you can imagine for making and decorating cakes. This, combined with the fantastic Cake Stuff team pictured here, creates an unbeatable combination which allows us to regularly knock the socks off our competition.
Lots of extra space has enabled us to grow further - introducing many new product lines and increasing our stock-holding dramatically. You'll rarely find essential items out of stock plus our huge buying power means we can always offer Cake Stuff customers the very best prices possible.
Our pricing policy is simple . . . at the point of adding a new product to the website we check the price for that product on at least 10 of the UK’s top cake supplies websites. Then, quite simply, we make sure our price is better than any of them and we offer additional savings with price breaks on many products - ideal for trade customers. There is never any compromise on quality or service - we’re talking about exactly the same products, but at the best prices possible. Over time some of our competitors may adjust their prices too, so if you find that one of our prices isn't just as good as it could be please let us know and we'll be happy to take a look!
Cake-stuff.com is designed specifically for the busy cake maker who knows what they want to order and wants the very best prices possible. It’s simple – you do a little bit of homework so that you know what you want to order and then we’ll do the rest: making sure you get the best price possible along with some fast, friendly and fun service. The PRODUCT DETAILS tab on every single page is crammed with information - dimensions, ingredients, tips and advice for you check before ordering.
We're open about our pricing and invite customers to check our prices against other suppliers for themselves. If you find a product being sold elsewhere at a better price, please let us know.
We promise to try our best to offer a better price where possible, and as long as the item on sale from a UK based retailer, is something we stock, is identical (brand etc), brand new and not part of a clearance sale, we'll be happy to look into it and adjust our on-line price to offer you (and all customers) an even better price.
Now, we can't say fairer than that - can we? . . . after all, we don't want to be the ones with egg cake on our faces.
We have been selling cake decorating supplies on eBay for a few years now and sales just keep on growing week after week . . . it may well be you’ve found Cake Stuff because you bought something from us on eBay.
eBay is a dynamic marketplace and prices change there on a daily basis as we react to competition, so it’s certainly possible that some of our items may be slightly less expensive on eBay. Very small, single item orders may cost you slightly less in our eBay Shop (taking P&P into consideration), whereas larger multi-item orders will almost always work out better value on cake-stuff.com. We’re honest people and are not trying to hoodwink anyone - we endeavour to offer the best possible prices but there will always be the odd occasion where, simply because we can change prices on eBay at very short notice, one or two items on eBay may appear slightly cheaper. We’re happy to offer our customers the choice of where to place their order and hope you’ll accept our explanation.
CLICK & COLLECT
We are a completely on-line business so we can't sell anything over the counter but we do offer a Click & Collect service for customers living close enough to visit in person. This service is designed to save you any delivery costs but please note we're not a retail shop, nor do we have any desire to go down that route. To explain: there are many good cake shops and cake decorating centres where you can browse before buying bits and pieces, and we completely understand that some customers prefer that experience. However, for our customers, the huge benefits are having access to a range far larger than any shop can stock, at prices far lower than any shop we've ever come across.
We ship hundreds of orders every single day to customers all over the world and although we're delighted to welcome customers to Cake Stuff HQ in person to collect their orders, we're sure you can understand why we cannot allow anything to affect the speed and efficiency of shipping those hundreds of orders.
For this reason, we cannot retail from the premises - all orders must be placed on the Cake Stuff website.
We ask you to allow up to 48 hours for Click & Collect orders, purely to allow for any unforeseen problem like a power cut etc but virtually all are ready within 24 hours and most are ready same day - we'll send you an automated email to let you know when your order is ready.
Our office is open weekdays, normally between 9.15am and 5.00pm (3.30pm on Fridays).
We're happy to help in any way we can with any questions you have about ordering or deliveries, but we cannot offer general advice on cake decorating or help you choose between brands - purely because the range is now so massive that each person has, for example, their own favourite brand of sugarpaste.
Remember the PRODUCT DETAILS tab on each page is crammed with useful product information to help you choose the best product for your requirements.
We have lovely customers and Suzanne, Lisa or any of our Customer Service team will bend over backwards to help wherever we can so don't hesitate to email, or phone us if it's really urgent . . .
